<aside> โฉ If you're going for a "Basic setup", you just need to read the section below about Internet Connection although we encourage you to go for a more "professional" setup ๐.

Having a fast and stable internet connection is vital to successful streaming. If you have a slow or unstable connection, your viewers will see stuttering, buffering, and if thereโs a really long interruption in your stream, your Live Session will eventually end. Frustrating!
For most internet uses like streaming movies you want a fast download speed. But when youโre live streaming, itโs all about upload speed.
To test your upload speed, go to speedtest.net.
Make sure youโre not streaming or using your network for anything intensive when performing the test.

| Your Upload Speed | |
|---|---|
| 20Mbps+ ๐๐๐๐ | Great for the highest quality live streaming |
| 10Mbps ๐๐๐ | Very good for high quality live streaming |
| 5Mbps ๐๐ | Good for basic live streaming |
| 2Mbps (bare minimum) ๐ | Works with low resolution video settings |
<aside> โ ๏ธ Be aware that Speedtest will show if you have a good Upload speed but it wonโt show you if your connection is unstable, which can happen especially if youโre on WIFI or you have a faulty Ethernet cable. So testing a livestream on Echio is essential even if you have a very good upload speed.

To create a great stream with high quality video, you need a computer with good performances that can quickly encode your video and audio.
Itโs hard to say exactly what kind of computer you need (for instance any Mac with M1 or superior processor is fine), youโll have to test it, but if itโs a 10+ years old laptop, it might be tricky.
And if you want to do hi-definition 4K/60fps video, you may need something more powerful like a recent Macbook Pro or PC with a good GPU.
Just run some tests with OBS and see how your computer is handling higher or lower video resolutions and FPS.
If you experience issues with your computer becoming slow when you start OBS, or a message in OBS (in the bottom left corner) saying that there are issues with video encoding, check our recommendation for optimizing your stream.
